Do any of the shoe professionals know anything about the new asics flagship?

Wow, they are expensive at US$165!
Given the RRP of the Kayano in the US is $135 (that is about AUS$180) but they retail for AUS$220 here these puppies could be AUS$275 or even more! :)

The trouble is, ASICs fit like a glove. They know it and they want to charge the earth. At Running Science in Rozelle, the guy talked me out of a pair of Kayanos by saying I'd get better mileage from a pair of Brooks Adrenaline for $50 less.
Love ASICs but bugger the price. All soes are way overpriced. Chinese sweat shops turn them out at labour rates of 3 cents an hour according to the documentary series, The Corporationstill screening on SBS.
They are being cheated and so are we. The trouble is; if you want to save you can go to Paul's Warehouse where economies of scale permit better pricing but you will not see the range you want and you won't get expert advice.
I'm sticking with Running Science because I want advice and don't want to go too far for it. Too bad about the price. Your feet are too important.

Some people go into car dealerships and go for a spin in the latest Jag, disguising it as a test drive. Its getting a bit that way with running shoes.

Slight hijack here, but I see that Nike have just released the Air Max 360 with retails for $US160.
Top end running shoes are getting ridiculously expensive!
I saw this link to an article which says that:
[indent]quote:
"They will sell 95% of them to guys and women who think they look cool with their jeans,"
Looking cool might be more important than running faster. While 34% of all basketball shoes are used to play basketball, 22% of running shoes are used for running, says Marshal Cohen, chief retail analyst at NPD.

UltraFit Australia magazine published yesterday, gives a run down on the new Asics "Gel Kinsei" p.10
Quote: "This smart shoe will be positioned above the Kayano and is due for release here in March. It will be sold exclusively from The Athletes Foot retail outlets for a cool $299.
The Gel Kinsei is heralded as the ultimate adaptable smart shoe as it can be used by a wide range of runners who in the past were split between the Nimbus and the Kayano The Kinsei achieves its adaptability due to its unique combination of cushioning inherent in the Nimbus and its stability that is derived from the Kayano. Until now runners had to choose one or the other.
This shoe looks fast. It's silver on top and comes with all the latest materials and features. Its lightweight as you would expect and is reported to be super shock resistant utilizing a new rear foot gel system that gives the shoe its technical visual appeal. We have not yet been able to get our hands on a pair to test them...."
(Well, not really a high-tech review, is it? Silver on top? I think that should read 24 carat gold) :)
As previous posts have pointed out, these shoes are manufactured in Chinese sweat shops and the high price just cannot be justified. Kevin's Loco shoes look better every day.

They had some at The Athlete's Foot at Macquarie.
I find it increasingly comical that as I look for shoes with fewer features, the bulk of running shoes get more and more.

<_< ohhh dear $299. In a few years I'll have to start selling my organs to buy my running shoes. I agree that the Loco is looking very good indeed.

Is it just me or does it look like the Nike Shox but with an Asics logo? Something tells me they will go the same way and you will see more on the dance floor than the running track.
