Hi everyone, have just discovered this site - what a great resource. B) Will be a regular visitor now - being new to the marathon scene I'll try not to ask too many silly questions.
I'm following Pat Carrol's beginner program for the GC Marathon - my first. Have spent years procrastinating but the idea to enter the marathon just popped into my head one day late last year and ever since I've been committed. Everything has been going well, but I get bored on the long Sunday runs. Does anyone want to team up for these or is there some group that I can tag along with? I'm a rank beginner and seem to be comfortable doing about 10km per hour in my training runs so far - and my motivation for entering is just to finish.
I've just moved to the Gold Coast, and am away through the week with work, so haven't had much of a chance to look around - can anyone suggest other good places to run on the coast?
One other question for those that have done it before - how hard will it be to get parking near the start on July 4?
Thanks in advance!
My first marathon

Hi Ben,
Parking is not too hard as long as you are there reasonably early, even for the out of town people who don't know their way around too well :)
Good luck with your training, and remember that there is a Spot the CoolRunner competition, so get yourself a CoolRunning cap or shirt if you can - I'm sure you will receive lots of cheering from other CoolRunners and supporters come race day.

Ben,
Get in touch with the Gold Coast Runners (see under Clubs section) & I am sure you will find someone to run with.
Re: parking at the GCM, as you head towards the race start, there are marshalls directing traffic to parking areas. Just ask them where to go. Usually not a problem. Advise you to go early to reduce stress.
