Not knowing you NSW guys i'm wondering if D.Benson is the guy i passed at 22k covered in blood last year? this guy looked like he had made a real mess.

No, I don't think so. Martin Fryer passed Darren at Binda Cabins, and Martin went on to run a 4.14, but Darren finished in 4.58, so he lost three quarters of an hour in the last 5km. He must have blown up very badly.
Having said that, he has great credentials and he'll have hopefully learned some lessons for this year.
