..just a lighthearted one for anyone bored at work today.
I thought I could share my loyalties equally, and as such, stated on my Six Foot Track entry form that my club was "Cool Striders" (Coolrunning / Sydney Striders), to which I was told "you can only have ONE club ..."
What to do?

Cool Striders?

I had the same issue a couple of years ago when I wanted to enter as both a Strider and a member of Fat Ass.
I suppose Dave it comes down to this- CoolRunning is great, but if you don't put down Striders, will you ever be able to look Action in the eye again? ;)

Uncle D
As a newbie Strider you may not know this.
If you plan to compete for the Striders super series trophy you cannot afford not to run in a Striders singlet in a super series event like the 6ft (same applies to the 10k series)because each time you do you automatically lose 10 points which would make it extremely hard to win the series even if you win every individual race in the series. You find all the conditions on the Striders website

Being the pragmatist, I have no problem with the Striders singlet and a CR cap! I will be thus adorned. However, as CR numbers dictate that there is little hope of CR winning the mob run, and Striders are the defending champions, then I would hope that helping a club win rather than supporting a club (?) that is unlikely to place would help you decide. Perhaps next year the mob run points score system will allow multiple clubs (Striders / CR, Aura / Striders / CR, etc) and the runners points be divided across the "interested parties".
Then again, as both Uncle Dave and I are sweeping this year, perhaps Uncle Dave in a CR singlet will spread the angst across multiple clubs as we catch and eliminate runners ......
...and Phantom is correct - the Super Series is a tight race, and 10 points for wearing a Striders singlet are easy points. ;)

Mister G,
What was your decision? Did you enter as a 'Fat Strider' or a 'Strider's Ass'?

Chris Davis / Mr Boof
So tell me, who do you pledge your allegiance to. You appear to use the Coolrunning site extensively and on viewing the site also enter the Striders races.
Do you own any "coolrunning" gear or are you a member of the Striders.
FYI - I have a coolrunning cap - given to me as a present.
I look forward to your feedback.

Young Jedi,
No brainer- just "ass"!
I'm entered as a Strider this year, but doubt I'll be wearing any Striders gear. Just don't find it particularly comfortable, apart from the cap, and the thermal top to some extent. And I'm not interested in the Super Series.
See you tomorrow. Keep an eye out for the Phantom's purple undies.

I knew I could count on you for some good advice Mr G; and lucky I took heed too, and wore my Striders singlet down to Lane Cove this morning, for the first Striders 10k series run of 2004; because Action had already prepared some age and gender related statistics for me on the propensity of non-conformist Striders to meet with all variety of uneviable fates.
...and although I'll run as a Strider, I'll be flying the Coolrunning flag with my new cap as per Action's "pragmatic" suggestion.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Tracy,
Boof is a nomad similar to the aboriginals he wonders the country side swimming/cycling/and running and is homeless with no allegiance to anybody. You could say a FREE SPIRIT !!!!!
If and when I decides his had enough of the tri seen one day (not likely however) I may decide to don the green & white full time and do the super serious justice as there is a green & white singlet lurking in my closet, but for time being the tri world is ware boofs allegiances lie you'll find from time to time he does don the purple/green/white of Balmoral tri club from time to time.
BTW : Just keep playing those cards close your chest Uncle, surprise tactics I like your style

Nomadic Boof

Dave, as a sweeper, it is irrelvant for the Mob Run. If you are wearing appropriate colours then all is ok.
To sum yourself up it could be "Cool Ass Strider".
