apparently they are comparable to DS trainers
anyone have experience with them?
runizzyrun
I find them better than the DS trainers!
Oakley
can i ask in what way?
JoggerK
which model ?
runizzyrun
I found the DS trainers smaller in the toe box, and I got a lot more blisters with them. I also lost a couple of toe nails! No problems with the Elixir at all. you probably do need to buy them 1/2 a size larger than the ASICS however as their sizing is smaller. I wear the Creation as well, and the Ascend for trail running. I'm a Mizuno convert!!

I'm another convert. I've also got the Ascend for trail running, best I've tried yet and I've tried a fair few trail shoes, not sure about the DS trainers though.
You need to go by the euro sizing not the UK or US as izzy1 said the sizing is different.

kazz.

from this little sneaker freaker...

Mizuno are certainly producing some terrific running models at the moment - lightweight, stable and well cushioned through their wave technology.

I like!

Just a matter of getting our hands on them.

thanks
interesting point you make about the toe box size as that is what I thought about the DS trainers when i tried them on. I had to go up a size to get them to fit, but then the rest of the shoe was sloppy.
Ive tried their Nirvana 2's and didnt like them. Well my foot didnt anyway. I think, for me, they go abit over board with the stability features in tha particular shoe. It is meant to be compared to the Kayano and i havent run in a Kayano before.
I think ill get a pair

I currently have a pair of Mizuno Wave Aero lightweight trainers – probably equivalent of the ASICS Speedstar. I had a friend get them for me in Hong Kong for about $65. Really good shoe but the fit is not as snug as my ASICS shoes in the same size.

I’ve also run in and enjoyed the Wave Rider before discovering the perfection of the ASICS Landreth 2 which is my everyday trainer.

So the entire Mizuno range is comparable to the DS trainer? How about clarifying which model you're referring to.
freddy
I recently purchased a pair of Mizuno Waves from a discount sports shop in Parramatta for $50. They were an old model that they no longer make.
Only wore then once and have had a black big toe nail for two weeks since.

um no
i was, and always have, refered to the EXLIER as the equiv to a DS TRAINER and the NIRVANA 2 as the KAYANO of the Mizuno world
Mizunos words.... not mine!

I wsa recommended the Nirvana as an alternative to the Kayano and had to take them back to the store after one run - stabbing pains up through my arch which, i think, means no arch support. Needless to say, NOT HAPPY JAN!" and went back to my beloved Kayanos.

I think im going to have to have a word to Mizuno Aust about the Nirvana. Only one person I know who has tried them, like them. I have the same complaint as you whippet. I couldnt even walk after a 10k training run as my arches hurt that badly!
Some good reviews of the Elixer so ill give them a shot, if they are as bad as the Nirvana's then im not selling them on Ebay im sending them back to Mizuno!
Thanks for everyone help. This is a great site!

Sorry to be OT but where do you get the Landreth from??
Tuttle
I had a pair of Nirvanas and really liked them (& used them when I ran a pb at the Auckland Marathon a couple of years ago).

My apologies Oakley. I didnt see your mention to the model as it's easily missed not being mentioned on the thread title listed on the threads menu, or in your post. Even Kevin T missed it :-)

I have always trained in the DS, but got a pair of Precision a little while ago. I'd say it's pretty comparable to the DS in itself. More cushion though, but too much space in the toe for me and i slide fwd when running downhill. Very good training shoe though.

I’ve twice managed to get some friends travelling to the US to bring back a few pairs for me so I’ve been able to keep a stock on hand. Currently rotating my last two pair.

For information, the Landreth 3 is due out in the US in January. I asked a question of an ASICS rep on the US Runnersworld site and he said ASICS Australia were considering it for their 2007 range but hadn’t made a decision yet. We can but hope.

ordered some

thanks for all the responses!

Sorry to continue off topic, but there was an ASICS Jan-June 2007 Footwear Catalogue inserted in the new issue of Run For Your Life magazine.

No Landreth 3 to be seen in the Australian range. mad.gif

Looks like I’ll be continuing to buy all my running shoes from overseas.
OldeRunner
Just ordered some Elixir #4's from the US. USD105.

They keep getting solid reviews so gonna try them.
