Full Version: Vomero Vs Skylon

Road Runner
I recently picked up a pair of Nike Vomero 3, along with a pair of Skylon II from the Nike factory outlet in Melbourne (I already have a pair of Vomero 2). The Nike guy said that the Vomero was a better constructed shoe (than the Skylon), but they were both suited to neutral runners (ie - me). Which shoe do you prefer, and why? The Skylons are very light, and would probably be good as racing shoes. All comments welcome smile.gif

I dunno, but I've just ordered two more pairs of Vom 3's, so you could say I'm pretty happy with them.

Good cushioning, pretty light, nice and neutral shoes - well constructed, they don't give me blisters or rub in any weird places.

But shoes are a very individual thing - if it works for you, it's the best shoe in the world.

Depending on whether they have changed the Skylon since the pair I have, or the last pair I've seen. They are very light & feel pretty good, but I personally found them a little unstable, but if you are truly neutral then I don't imagine there being any problem.
I normally wear neutral footwear, but these just weren't quite right mainly for longer runs.

I'm a big fan of the Vomero & find I get excellent durability out of them. My first pair logged well over 1000km and I'd still go for a run in them if I didn't have newer options available in the cupboard. My 2nd pair have over 700km and was still considering wearing them in a recent 100km event....

If they are the right shoe for you, I'm sure they'll be great.

Who says shoes only have cosmetic changes hey cool.gif

I am also a huge Vomero convert now, not hard from the Pegasus.

The V 3's appear to me to be a bit lighter, not so bulky but the obvious change is a bit more rubber under heel and the better support under arch (rigid) material. I would say it is shaped more like the Pegasus now, whereas V 1 was a very wide based (wide sole) shoe. A yes from me.

Like Clarkey, I can also still run in my V 2's but so comfy in the new ones, didn't know it could get comfier.

The ladies' Vomero of course has the bunion cells (why is it mostly women that get them ) and the only shoe so far that doesn't give my wife problems in that area.

I also run without socks and I would know if a shoe has rough material inside.... I get absolutely no blisters from the Pegasus- Vomero range.

cheers

That would be me ...

The Vomero 2s suited me down to the ground (so to speak) but the extra 'support' in the Vomero 3s make me supinate apparently so my physio suggests looking for another neutral shoe. Pity cos the bunion cells are fantastic!
