I know i overpronate a bit, been running in my brooks infinitis2 and i love them. Tried on the salvation and they felt like they hold the foot better, however im not sure about the 'formation' they put in the heel area, wouldn't that make the shoe unstable when your heel strikes. Is it a good shoe, anybody?

Depends what you're looking for. They're made for fairly neutral to mild-pronators, but - like the Adistar Control which they replaced - the heel tab is very high and has contributed to achilles problems for me. Other than that I thought they were great and didn't feel any instability.

I have a pair of these and feel that the heel setup was very very good and the pronation elements not too intrusive or firm. They were however quite a snug fit with a higher arch than my Adrenalines and they have given me blister issues. Otherwise a very comfortable shoe just not quite right for me.

Just got a pair of these a couple days ago after getting on the treadmill & being recommended them by the store i visited. Haven't had a chance to use them yet, then again I have nothing to compare them with as they're my first "proper" runners.

Well I ordered a pair. They seem like a good shoe, can't wait to go for a run in them. Good luck with training and let me know how the shoe holds up.

Thanks Tom and Rod for your input on the shoe. I've also had achilles problems in the past so hopefully the salvation wont aggravate that.

Well just went for my first run (ever!!...yeah im a beginner), actually it was more of an alternating walk & jog.
Shoes were comfy and the only problem i had rubbing on the back of my heel, which i'm putting down to my socks being too low & the heel tab being a little high. Otherwise i'm happy with them & didn't have any other problems, though as i mentioned earlier i have no other runners to compare them with.

Just noticed the C25K plan, so think i'm gonna start that up smile.gif

First run ever thats awesome. Ive read a lot of great things about the c25k program on this forum. I wish i had followed some sort of program when i started running, i just went into it gung ho style and ended up with a bad achilles injury couldnt run for 6 wks, cost alot of money on physio too. So don't push yourself too hard in the beginning, alternating walk and jog is good. smile.gif ill let you know what i think of the salvation when i get mine to run in... hopefully soon.

Bought a pair of the Salvations when i started to ramp up the k's in Jan or so - they were awesome. Had some injuries since though, so don;t know if they are related though. mainly achilies, and now a hip on the other leg which may be related/compensationary. Had some initial calf complaints, but they've gone.

Stumbled upon some Control 5's at DFO - now THEY are an awesome shoe. The Salvations haven't got a look in for the last 200 or 300 km's. I reckon the Control's a more "snug". The big problem that i have now? Can't find any more of the buggers! Aggghhhhhh.

Still got achilies and hip issues though, and am thinking of doing a week in my older ASICS to see of the shows are a factor....

hehe yeah it was pretty good, was kinda disappointed that i couldn't really jog much more than a full lap without needing to walk to catch my breath.
Was hoping all my swimming over the past 18months would've helped hahaha

Gonna start the C25K tomorrow and take it easy, i'm in no rush anyway.
Enjoy your new shoes when you get'em!

I see you're in Vic (although pretty far from the CBD), if you have the time drop by Shoe Logic (i think that's the name?...something Logic) at the city baths in the Melbourne.
When i went there last time they still had a few pairs of the Control 5 in the "all-blue" colour scheme. Selling for $150 which is a pretty good price.

Might want to give them a call first to see if they still have them (as this was a few weeks ago), otherwise might be a waste of a trip.

Hope that helps!

The Adidas sale had Salvations for 40% off, and was still on last week.
Not sure if its still going, but works out pretty cheap, about the same price as i saw online when shopping around.
