Ground and club records were broken on the weekend when more than 100 young athletes competed in Dapto Little Athletics' pentathlon at Dapto High School.

Children from five to 15 years competed in the five disciplines.

Dapto Little Athletics secretary Ian Fitzgibbon said the event was designed for the all-round athlete.

The U15 girls category provided one of the stand-out performances of the meet with Larissa Rossen from Sutherland taking the gold medal.

Rossen was 391 points ahead of her nearest rival Danielle Whittington from Ambarvale and 702 points ahead of third-placed Kellie O'Leary from Dapto.

Kayla Pymont of Dapto broke a club record in the U9 girls 60m hurdles posting a time of 11.1secs.

Pymont ended up taking the overall silver medal in her age group.

Fitzgibbon said the annual pentathlon carnival, now in its 10th year, was enjoyed by the competitors who were already planning next year's event.
