Olympic Marathon To Come To Life Again

The NSW Government, in conjunction with Athletics Australia, will announce tomorrow the establishment of an annual Sydney Marathon, along the famous 'blue line' of the Olympic route. The Government has reached agreement with Athletics Australia to provide substantial support to the 42.2km event, which is expected to attract thousands of entrants including hundreds from overseas. A media conference will be held at the Premier's Reception Rooms, Level 41, Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney at 12.45pm tomorro (Friday 1 June). Attending on behalf of the Premier will be Mr Sam Fiszman, AO, Chairman of the NSW Major Events Board and Mr Simon Allatson, CEO of Athletics Australia, as well as Aussie marathon stars Steve Moneghetti and Louise Sauvage.
