Run mostly through beautiful Aussie bush, over fire trails and cycle ways. Beginning and ending at the Shaft Tavern, Elermore Vale. Organised and presented by Elermore Vale Lions.

Race Information

IT'S ON AGAIN! The 1999 Shaft Shuffle will be run on 28th March, in Elermore Vale - 10km SW of Newcastle city centre, and just minutes from the Newcastle Freeway. The location and the late 10am start make the event easily accessible for visitors from Sydney and the Central Coast. See the location page for further details.

The Fun Run has raised over $26,000 in the last four years for local charitable causes, such as Camp Quality, Hunter Melanoma Foundation, Wayahead Joinery Workshop, Diabetes Kids Camp, Mater Oncology Unit and Centacare.

This year National Heart Foundation - Hunter Branch will be the beneficiaries of the proceeds raised.

We are also having a Dinner/Auction Night. Cost is $20.00. Bookings can be made by phoning (02) 4954 9675. Many great donated items will be for auction!

Remember - the first 200 Fun Run entries received with their entry fee ($10.00) will receive a quality Fun Run T-shirt! So don't be disappointed - fill in the entry form and enter today!

Race Location

The race start and finish are at the Shaft Tavern, Croudace Road, Elermore Vale. It is 10km SW of Newcastle city centre, and just minutes from the Newcastle Freeway - making the event easily accessible for visitors from Sydney and the Central Coast.

Trophies and Medallions

Trophies and Medallions will be awarded in the following categories:

Long Course

1st, 2nd, 3rd: Men & Ladies
1st Men & Ladies Over 40 yrs
1st Men & Ladies Over 55 yrs
1st Young Men & Ladies Under 20 yrs
1st Boys and Girls Under 16 yrs
1st Boys and Girls Under 12 yrs

Short Course

1st, 2nd, 3rd: Men & Ladies
1st Boys and Girls Under 10 yrs

25 Minute Challenge
Medallions with a trophy will be presented to the runner breaking 25 minutes for the long course. In the last couple of years runners have come in under 26 minutes, so the 25 minute challenge still stands.
