You will ascend through Deep Creek Valley to Norton Summit and Mount Lofty, then down to the Onkaparinga River and Mylor region and through the Kuitpo Forest. Along the way you will pass through and near the towns of Cherryville, Summertown, Piccadily, Bridgewater, Mylor and Hillyfields. You will be in the unique position to savour the rugged tranquillity of the South Australian Hills.
“The power of teamwork! Trailwalker is all about teamwork. It is tough and challenging, it is also inspiring and exhilarating. Trailwalker engages the astonishing capacity of the human spirit to achieve the extraordinary. Every step you take along the trail is a step towards a better life for poor communities the world over” Bryce Courtenay(Trailwalker Patron)
Preparation
Trailwalker is not an easy event. It requires proper planning and training well in advance of the event. Plan a schedule with your team mates and stick to it! By August you should be having practice walks, walking at least one day a week for a minimum 4 - 6 hours. Each week you should slightly increase the distance and/or time of your walks. By the end of your training period, you should feel able to walk for 10 - 11 hours without difficulty. Remember to drink sufficient water when training.“When I start to get tired I remind myself of the images of Kosavo refugees arriving at the borders - after walking hundreds of kilometres with their children - to get me going again”, Sydney Trailwalker participant.
