Places to Run
The Blue Mountains is a supreme paradise for offroad trail runners, there are literally hundreds of kilometres of trails. But first - a warning - lots of people die and get lost each year in the Blue Mountains, often tourists, who understand the remoteness, the terrain, the ease of getting lost. So please go prepared, with water and appropriate clothing etc and tell someone where you are going!
- A good place to start is the National Parks & Wildlife Service list of walks - various distances
- The Six Foot Track is a 45km path from just outside Katoomba to Jenolan Caves, but you can just run part of the way. Link
- The Woodford to Glenbrook route above is on the Oaks Firetrail. This trail and others are listed on a local Mountain-biker on his website http://www.thefathippy.com - he lists a heap of excellent other routes, all of them great running terrain - this is a highly recommended website.
- Andersons Firetrail, Wentworth Falls region has some good runs on trails that link together - see map to right
- Katoomba to Mittagong, 132km, probably best left to the hard core. Link1 Link2
