Enoggera Creek/Ithaca Creek Bikepath

Assessment: Mostly flat

This loop starts and finishes at School Road in The Gap. It follows the bikepath along Enoggera Creek through Dorrington and Ashgrove to the far end of Ashgrove Avenue at Newmarket. The path goes under Ashgrove Avenue and becomes the Ithaca Creek Bikepath. It follows Ithaca Creek through Red Hill, past the Bronco's Leagues Club and Ithaca TAFE, through Bowman Park and back to The Gap.

The paths are well sign posted and include the approximate number of steps as well as distance to the next landmark. There are plenty of bubblers along the way so hydration shouldn't be a problem except possibly at the height of summer.

The route is mainly off-road bikepaths. There are some suburban streets but they are quiet ones. The only major road is a short section along Waterworks Road in The Gap. At no point are you required to cross a major road.

The distance of the whole loop is slightly more than a half marathon.

Mt Cootha

Assessment: Hilly

On road - circuit track arount Mt Cootha

Mt Cootha is 287m high. The road is about 9.5km long.

The section from Simpson falls turnoff to the Channel 10 station (north side) is the steepest.

From Channel 10 station to the Restaurant/lookout runs along a ridge along the top of the hill. There are lots of picnic spots along the ridge road.

The south side road to the restaurant is not as steep.

There are lots of bush tracks on Mt Cootha. Many of the tracks are 'closed'. One such closed track comes up from Chapel Hill. Anyone know how to get on this track or if it is open.
