The Basics

Centennial Park is an oasis of green close to the Sydney CBD that attracts a lot of runners, cyclists, walkers, roller-blders etc. When you have finished your run there is a permanent cafe on the corner of Grand Drive and Parkes Drive or, on weekends and public holidays only, a caravan cafe by the Duck Pond on Parkes Drive (highly recommended).

Around Centennial Park Run

There are numerous paths that are good for running on, so you can either just do a circuit of the park, or develop your own ad hoc run. Plenty of opportunities to run on the grass or next to the horse-riding track etc. Includes a 3.6km car free bitumen running track which has recently been upgraded. An unofficial track exists around the perimeter of Centennial Park just inside the fence (except along Oxford Street where most people go outside the park between the Paddington and Woollahra Gates) - a distance of 6.8km.

Centennial Park To Randwick

Starting from the Woollahra Gates on Oxford Street near York. Run towards and then down York Street. Follow the outside fence of Centennial park for about 2.5 ks until Darley streets bends away and meets Alison Rd. Cross over Alison Rd and run along the racecourse and follow Alison to the lights at Church St. Right into Church until High St take a right and run down High St. Then basically follow the Racecourse right around until you get back to Alison Rd. Turn right and go back to the lights to cross over Alison and into Centennial Park. Turn left and follow the inner circle around until Parkes St at the Cafe, turn left up the hill to the gates and then right to run along Oxford St back to the starting point. About 10ks and only 1 set of traffic lights.
