Galston Road
Back to Hornsby Heights
Galston Road is a reasonably flat road, but with enough small hills for a good workout. A 6km run on Galston Road would probably be 30s slower than on a flat track. The steepest section is heading west just past the Caltex service station. Galston Road attracts many runners (and even a few joggers!) at all time during the day, from 5am to after dark, but between 5pm and 7pm for two months before the City2Surf is when most runners come out. It is a good idea to measure out km markers, and then keep a check of the mins/km. My run usually starts at the corner of Galston Rd and Montview Parade and goes up to the Pacific Highway, past the Metro service station on the corner and ends at the telegraph pole on the street corner just past the Asquith bowling club. Turn around and run back. This is a 6-7km return trip. The only traffic hassles are at Somerville Rd where the traffic lights are, and at Sutton Road which provides a shortcut to the Asquith shops.
