Middleton is approx 13km east of Victor Harbour on the South Australian Coast.

This area is blessed with a Bikeway (link to PDF) that links the towns of Port Elliot, Middleton and Goolwa. I stayed in Middleton for 5 days in January and had the pleasure of coastal runs virtually at my backdoor.

The scenery is very distracting from the effort of running. Views include surfers luxuriously waiting for the next wave, or the ecstacy of the wave rider, sunsets and sunrises that go for as far as you can see, beach houses fully lit in the evening. The track has mild undulations, nothing too taxing or severe.

Absolute bonus of this area is the cross training available - surfing, swimming, boogie boarding. And if you have no surfing experience there are two organisations that run surfing classes on the Middleton Surf beach. Information available at the Middleton Surf shop.
