Sydney Summer Twilight Series

From CoolRunning Australia
Jump to: navigation, search

This is a 5 and 10K time trial series in the Sydney Metro area over the summer months. It is organised informally by volunteer hosts, who facilitate the event on their preferred date and venue. Races, often on Fridays, are held in the twilight so that runners can race after work. All standards welcome. Please check the Forum thread and Facebook Group for the latest information.

Philosophy

"First and foremost, ALL ability levels are welcome. However long it takes you to complete the distance is the time it takes you to complete the distance. Anyone who believes that there should be a time limit criteria has got the wrong series. Whether you hop skip walk fart hobble run to get the distance is irrelevant, turning up and having a go is what it is all about. If you are worried about this being elitist, you couldn't be further off the mark." CR Silverfox

Some useful links about twilight in Sydney during the summer

Here's how to calculate sunrise/sunset time in Sydney over the summer, and this is a good place to look up civil twilight end "lighting up time" (typically about half an hour after sunset).

Entry Fees

There are no entry fees. Events are not officially sanctioned, and runners share the paths with the general public.

Season 2008/09

Thank you to the organisers, hosts and helpers, and of course all the hundreds of runners who participated to make this series such a success, and thank you to Nike for providing the shoe prizes. See you next summer!

Register your name and time each run for a chance to go in the draw for series prizes, to be drawn at the wrapup event on 27 February. Results to date on this spreadsheet.
