The ACT Cross Country Club will stage the 23rd Annual ActewAGL Women and Girls 5k Fun Run on Sunday 5th April 2009.

The event which attracts women and girls from all over the Southern NSW and the ACT normally has around 1,000 entrants.

It is a flat fast course along the northern foreshores of Lake Burley Griffin.

There is a chance for one runner or walker to win $500 cash. The winner receives $250 plus trophy, 2nd $150 and third $100 respectively. All masters age groups from W35 are catered for and their are prizes for Mothers/Daughters, Sisters etc.

The event is a fun raiser for Marymead a local community based organisational that has been in Canberra for 40 years. Marymead supports struggling families and cares for children and young people who cannot live at home. helping create a brighter future for vulnerable children.

The ACT Cross Country Club is a not for profit organization and will donate all funds to Marymead after costs.

Female runners from the Sydney region wishing to participate in this all female event are reminded that Sunday 5th April is the first day after Daylight Saving so you can benefit from the extra hour sleep. It is also a great opportunity for those participating in the Canberra Marathon some two weeks later to visit Canberra and check out the weather and course.
