Why Advertise on CoolRunning ?
We are currently ranked by Hitwise as the top-rated Sport-Athletics site for Australia. This means we get more visits than contenders like Athletics Australia, Runners World, Athletics Victoria and all the major marathons (and have held this position since the July-Sept quarter of 2002
So, if you want to publicise your event, product, club or anything related to running in Australia, then this would be about the best place. You will also be helping the keep this website running - you can see from the example that the costs are significant in managing a website with the size and level of traffic as we have.
Features of the CoolRunning AdSystem
We use our own AdSystem - this provides the following features:
- Advertisers can check themselves how many times each ad has been displayed and clicked on. *Advertisers can upload their own ad images, or text, and change this at any times, as many times as they like.
- Advertisers can create their own ads, and pay for them, and have them go "live" as a fully-self-serve operation with no need for CoolRunning staff to be involved.
- Advertisers can stop their ads and then re-start them when they feel like it.
- All ads are paid in advance and stop being displayed when your account runs out of money, but will immediately re-start when account is topped up.
- You can start your account, or top it up with any amount, greater than AUS$5.00. Or you can pay a lump sum, and just top up when required.
- Ads are rotated so that one advertiser does not hog the best position (depending on the number of ads in a zone, your ad may not be displayed 100% of the time).

Advertising options
Advertising options are as follows (we are willing to discuss any other requests for advertising or sponsorship that you may have - just contact our helpdesk).
- Image Ad - All pages - You can have a standard-size button images at the top of the homepage of CoolRunning Australia (next to our logo) and all other CoolRunning pages. This type of ad costs AUS$0.50 per 1000 times it is displayed (approx AUS$120 per month if shown the complete month). Click here to create your Ad account.
- Quicklinks - You can have your website listed as a "quicklink" at the foot of the right hand column of each page on CoolRunning, including the homepage for AUS$1.00 per day. Have a look at the right hand column on this page for examples. Click here to create your Ad account.
Note for our long-running advertisers Please note we have made some changes as of late May 2007 - Quicklinks are now $1 per day, the first price rise in 3 years. The homepage Ads and "Other pages" ads have now been merged into one ad zone that is the same across all pages. This is just to reduce complexity. The price has been adjusted to be similar to previous.
Image Ad Technical Specifications
- Image Ads must be 120x60 pixels
- Can be gif or jpg
- Must be less than 25Kb in file size
- Can be an animated gif with multiple frames - no limit on number of frames or animation speed given above file size limitation
