2011 /  2012 Season

 Seaford Little Athletics

Interclub Season 2011/2012

The committee of 2011/2012 wish to thank all of the athletes for their outstanding performances and parents for managing the events that produced another successful Seaford Athletics season. This season certainly marked the start of significant changes ahead for the centre and the future running of interclub days.  The new committee for 2012/2013 was elected at the AGM which was held at the last interclub.

Cross Country

Our 2012 Cross Country season commences at Seaford North Primary School on Saturday 21st April, with registrations taken between 8:30am and 9:00am. We are looking forward to some fierce competition with our regular competitors from Mentone and Chelsea centres, but would love to see lots of new faces. Our season is open to all registered little athletes and their families from any Centre, so if your Centre does not conduct a Cross Country competition of its own, or you would like to run on a different course, we would love to have you join us. Seaford has for many years also conducted a Winter Walking competition from Age Groups U8 up to and including Open Age. Winter race-walk events were conducted for the first time at the 2011 Southern Metro Region Cross Country Challenge, and will continue this year. For those athletes that specialise in walking, this is a great way to maintain race fitness during the winter months. Whether you wish to run, walk or both, you can register for a whole season, or compete as a casual athlete and pay a small fee only on the days you wish to compete. You are most welcome to ‘come and try’ both competitions and decide what’s best for you. The season finishes at the end of August, with season trophies awarded in all age groups at Presentation Day on Sat 1st September.

For further information, please refer to the links on the left panel.

Seaford  Presentation Night

Award Presentation night was held on the 30th March . Congratulations to athletes recognized for their achivements.

LAV HISTORY

Bayswater Bullets Little Athletics Club, one of eleven clubs within the Knox Little Athletics Centre was successful in being granted a Local History Grant by the State Public Records Office Victoria in November 2006 for their 40th Anniversary during the 2008/09 season..

Part of this project was to discover the early Little Athletics history by interviewing those who were there at the time during the mid 1960's in Geelong and obtaining early Little Athletics records.

Although not complete, we have listed it here for those interested in the origins of our sport, and the hurdles that had to be overcome during those formative years.

Please bookmark this page as it will be updated as more information come to hand over the next twelve months or so.
We would also like to hear from those involved with Little Athletics during these early times.
