Sydney Marathon future is secured
5 July 1998The Sunday Telegraph newspaper has thrown its support behind the Sydney Marathon ensuring its existence beyond the year 2000, in a four-year sponsorship deal announced yesterday.
The Marathon will be held on 6th September 1988, starting in North Sydney and following much of the 2000 olympic course to finish in the athletics stadium at Homebush.
The event ran from 1994 to 1996 but accumu-lated massive debts un-der its previous management. In conjunction with the Marathon, a 10km Harbour Bridge Fun Run will also be held.
Over the coming weeks, The Sunday Telegraph will provide entry forms for those wishing to participate.
