Sporting Spectrum, part-Organisers of the 2001 Sydney Marathon

Sporting Spectrum, part-Organisers of the 2001 Sydney Marathon

Did you know that the company appointed to organise the operational aspects of the Sydney Marathon and Sunday Telegraph Bridge Run is Sporting Spectrum, the company owned by Chris Robb. You may know them from other events as they are the event managers of the Mothers Day Classic, Runny Red Nose Jog and the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge. They also organise Lunchtime Legends - corporate lunchtime sporting events that are held in the Domain, Chatswood, North Ryde, Frenchs Forest, Parramatta and North Sydney, as well as running corporate sports, golf and team building days.

During the Olympics as well as running his business Chris was also the Road Events Supervisor for the Olympic and Paralympic Marathons and he has been able to secure a great team to work with him on organising the marathon. Peter Stewart (SOCOG Venue Manager - Marathon) joins the team as Venue Manager, Jodie Salmon (SOCOG Triathlon Admin Manager) as Operations Manager and Susan Griffith (SOCOG Road Events Admin Manager) as Admin Manager. Additionally, they have been able to retain many of the key personnel who made up the volunteer roadcrew at the Olympic Marathons, including Steve Jackson who will take the role of Course Director. Chris and his team value greatly the role of the volunteers and recognise that without them the 'show could not go on'. As you can see the Sporting Spectrum team has the credentials to organise a great race; so get behind them whether it be as a runner or a volunteer.

For more information about the events contact Susan Griffith at sgriffith@sportingspectrum.com.au or call on (02) 9439 6060.

PS Susan says that she's received a great initial response from volunteers and currently has over 200 committed people. Obviously a way to go to reach the 1,000 required but she feels confident more people will come forward over the next 3-4 weeks.
