Tamborine Trek
Next Race : Saturday 27 May 2006The Tamborine Trek is a 62 kms event from the Girl Guides Hall in Ferry Road, Nerang to the top of Mt Tamborine and back. The course comprises 18 kms of gravel road within the Nerang State Forest, and 13 kms of bitumen to the top of Tamborine. The event is open to solo competitors and 3 person teams, each runner running approximately 21 kms. The solo and relay sections both start at 0600. Solo runners not making the end of leg 2 by 1100 will not be permitted to run leg 3. There wil be a mass restart at 1000 for the last team runners where the second runner has not reached the checkpoint, wit a consequential time adjustment. Race director's comments on 2005 race: "We had a great race yesterday. Solo entries were up from 3 last year to 13, relays from 7 to 9 teams. In the solo we had a great race between David Waugh, Sean Swain & Kelvin Marshall. These 3 and many others took a wrong turn which resulted in them running an extra 3kms (est). The racing between the top teams was keen also."
