This was an invitational stage race of approx 4,000km from Perth to Canberra over a period of 9 weeks (6th Jan 2001 to 11th March 2001). Each stage was approx 70km per day. It was organised primarily by Bernie Farmer email email@example.com.
One of the co-race Director's, Jesse Dale Riley, ran a low-key Perth to Sydney in 1998 in preparation for the organisation and feasibility of this race :
A frenchman, Serge Girard, ran "Trans-Australia" as a solo run (85km per day) covering the Perth-Sydney route completing November 1999 :
