Bernie Farmer, director of the competition, bid his last farewell to the best Australian ultra-marathon runner, and moved to tears many of those present. The runners put up a cross, and left bouquets of flowers where the monument will be erected this year, and then slowly ran away towards Ceduna. That was Bryan Smith's wish. In the eighth stage, which was interrupted by a fire, he made it clear to the organizers that he is determined to run the course as a whole and not by sections. That is why the next day all the runners started where they finished the previous day, and that is why today the runners continued the race starting from the spot of the unfortunate event. The finish point of today's stage is in Ceduna. Tomorrow at 7 am, the competition will begin again, with the remaining 15 runners racing in memory of Bryan Smith.
