The IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) organises the annual 24hour World Challenge under the patronage of the IAAF (International Amateur Athletics Federation). Australia sends a team of our best 24 hour runners each year. Athletics Australia allows AURA to select the the most appropriate team.
Prior to 2006, there was insufficient funding to send a complete Australian team, as all resources were put into the more-popular 100km World Cup but with the announcement of IAU Travel Grants, the task becomes more feasbile.
