AURA MALE ULTRARUNNER OF THE YEAR 2006

The AURA male ultra runner of the year for 2006 is Kelvin Marshall. The committee agonisied between Kelvin, Jo Blake and Martin Fryer. Jo had run a 7:05:40 in Misari in the 100km World Challenge in October and Martin had run a 233.239 km in the 24 hour World challenge in Taiwan in February, followed by 346.116 km at the National 48 hr champs in August.

Kelvin contested 16 ultra races in Australia, winning 7 of them. For the record, the wins (first AURA member) included Mansfield to Buller, Maroondah Dam, Walhalla Woundup, Tamborine Trek, Warrumbungles, Moe 6 hour and Mt Feathertop. His ability to back up for hard racing almost week after week is phenomenal. It shows that running to and from work every day works wonders.

In addition to that Kelvin was a wonderful ambassador for Australia, completing the Trans Gaule stage race in France.


AURA FEMALE ULTRARUNNER OF THE YEAR

The AURA female ultra runner of the year is Siri Terjesen. Siri had a brilliant year, contesting 7 ultra races in Australia, winning all of them.

For the record, Siri's wins (first AURA member) included Caboolture 6 hour, Six Foot Track, Canberra 50km, Mt Mee classic, Glasshouse 50km, Tamborine Trek and Kurrawa 50km.

She was also a wonderful ambassador for Australia in placing third in the IAU 50km trophy race in Winschoten in October.

AURA wishes them well in their endeavors for 2007.
