IAU 100km World Cup 2004 Selection Criteria

The men's and women's teams to represent Australia to contest the 100 kms World Challenge to be held under the auspices of the IAAF and the IAU in Winschoten, Holland on 11 September, 2004 shall be selected by the AURA 100 kms Selection Committee. This committee shall consist of three members the Chairman of which shall be the President of AURA. None of the committee members shall be prospective team members.


The selection race shall be the Australian 100 kms championship to be held in conjunction with the Gold Coast 100 on 17 July, 2004. The top two Australian men and the top two Australian women finishers shall automatically qualify for the team provided they meet the qualifying standards of 8:00 hours for men and 9:00 hours for women.


The remaining members of the team, (two men and two women), will be selected by the AURA 100 kms Selection Committee based on results at other major ultra distance races, national and international racing experience including mountain, road, trail, and track venues between 1 July, 2003 and 17 July, 2004 and past World Cup events, Within this qualifying period, the primary performance standards for team eligibility are at 100kms (8:00 for men and 9:00 for women) distance. Initial consideration for team selection will be given to runners with 100kms performances under 7:35 (men) and 8:45 (women) during the qualifying period.


To be considered for the team, runners must be current AURA members. Interested athletes may submit running resumes.


It is expected that travel and accommodation expenses for the team or teams will be fully funded by the event organisers, IAU/IAAF and AURA.
