Welcome to the Australian Ultra Runners' Association (AURA)
An ultramarathon is a footrace longer than a standard marathon (42.195km) and can take place on road, athletic track or trail/ mountain/ cross-country.
The Australian Ultra Runners' Association (AURA) is the national organisation that represents ultramarathon running and ultramarathon runners within Australia. It coordinates the national ultramarathon calendar of events, holds championships, and provides assistance to prospective race directors (eg can help with race insurance). The national body also selects teams for international championships and is responsible for maintaining the list of all Australian Records for all ultradistance events.
The objective of AURA is to support and promote the sport of Ultramarathon running in Australia and represent Australian interests in the sport internationally. AURA is affiliated to the national Athletics body - Athletics Australia.
